How can you find out if a house is for sale and who owns it?

Are there public records available? If a house is being sold exclusively through a single agent, is it harder to find? How can you find out if a house is for sale and who owns it?
You can easily find out who owns a house through your County Auditor. Most counties have a website that allows you to search the auditor's records. You can find this by searching ';%26lt;Your County%26gt; Auditor'; on yahoo. Once there you can usually search by the address of the property you want to know about. If there is no website available you can call your local auditor's office. How can you find out if a house is for sale and who owns it?
You can for sure find houses for sale http://realestate.yahoo.com/ or http://www.homes.com

but as far as who owns it. I am going to assume you mean who owns the property. Well you can do that by going to http://www.whitepages.com or www.anywho.com/wp.html and just simply type in the address that you are looking for and there's your owner according to the systems records. Some houses are not listed of course though. That is the drawback.
