How long do people usually get sentenced to when they are arrested for sale and possession of marijuana?

My dad got arrested today because apparently he sold marijuana to an undercover police officer. They have him with distribution, possession with the intent to sell, and possession of a firearm. (He had a .22 pistol for personal protection.) What kind of sentence should we be expecting? Like, ten years? More? Less? Oh, they also found some old straws in the back of a cabinet that had cocaine residue in them. :-(How long do people usually get sentenced to when they are arrested for sale and possession of marijuana?
Sorry to hear that. There are many factors. First if he has a prior record, or if he was on probation or parole than he will get longer. If he is a first time offender than he will get much less. It also matters what state your in and how harsh they are on marijuana law. Also you have to consider the amount he sold, was it a dime bag, a twenty, eigth, ounce, or pound or more. As for the pistol he is going to get time for having a loaded weapon. It also matters on what kind of lawyer he gets if its a good one and will cost they can cut the time. But if its a first time conviction than he can be looking at 6 months for the gun and the marijuana will add to the time. If he was on parole or probation he can get up to five years. Hope everything works out for you guys though..How long do people usually get sentenced to when they are arrested for sale and possession of marijuana?
well it all depends on things like , where you live, if the gun was registered to him and if he has a pistol permit and if he has a license to carry and if your state has a zero tolerance law. if he was in new york he would be really screwed. but sorry to hear that had happened to your father. best of luck.
Not good. Hopefully this was his first offense. If not, jail or possible DOC time.
concealed weapon too? man, intent to sell as well? well he's looking at some years but not a lot, it all depends
